Jewish Museum Curaçao
The Pioneering Experience

It’s always good to be first – so we were delighted when, as part of their refurbishment, the Jewish Museum on the island of Curaçao asked us to create the Dutch Caribbean’s very first audio tour.

Digital Storytelling

As with all our projects, we worked closely with the museum team at every stage to make sure the final experience perfectly matched their needs.

The tour guides visitors through almost four centuries of Jewish life on the island, with Mikvé Israel-Emanuel – known locally as the Snoa – at its heart. This remarkable synagogue has stood since 1732 and remains the oldest in continuous use in the Americas.

Narration is available in English, Dutch and Spanish, and Curaçao’s own Papiamentu. Voiced by local community members, the Papiamentu version adds an authentic layer of connection and community.

Blending history, architecture and personal stories – including that of WWII hero George Maduro – the audio offers respectful, non-intrusive storytelling, preserving a sacred atmosphere while bringing Curaçao’s Jewish heritage vividly to life.
