We worked closely with the National Trust to create adult and family multimedia tours that transform these complex ancient ruins into a living, breathing Roman household.
The adult guide acts as a companion, accompanying visitors as they explore the site. With expert insights from archaeologist Martin Papworth, they learn the stories behind the mosaics, how Roman underfloor heating worked, the importance of communal bathing, and how to tell the difference between a Nymphaeum and a Caldarium.
The family tour is hosted by Pom – a cheeky time travelling snail – who introduces young visitors to a host of engaging characters (such as the dormouse munching Dominus) before popping back into his shell to tell another ‘Snail Tale’.
The tour fires young imaginations, using on-screen content only where it adds to the story – but still packing in plenty of interactive games.
The positive reactions of visitors old and young tells us they’re having as much fun listening to it as we did creating it.
