We’ve been working here since 2023, developing multilingual audio tours in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German.

The tours are available on handheld devices or via a smartphone app, launched by scanning a QR code at the ticket desk.

They reveal some of the cathedral’s many architectural secrets and introduce visitors to characters from its past, including Alice Kyteler, accused of witchcraft in the 1400s, and the anchorites –  hermits who lived a life of prayer in a small cell beside the altar.

In 2025, the cathedral received funding from the Heritage Council of Ireland to further improve accessibility and ensure more visitors can fully experience the site. With our strong commitment to inclusive storytelling, we were delighted to help.

We revisited the site, assessing the physical layout of the route, identifying potential visitor challenges, and considering the most effective ways to immerse diverse audiences in the cathedral’s fascinating story.

In collaboration with the cathedral and the local community, we wrote and produced an audio description (AD) tour to better support visitors who are blind or visually impaired. This is delivered on our Piccolo device with an accessible tactile number keypad. For deaf or hearing impaired visitors, we produced Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpretation that can be viewed on our Mirage devices.

Our commitment to collaboration and accessibility means that today, even more visitors can now enjoy this remarkable site.

“Imagineer demonstrated creativity, technical expertise and a genuine understanding of how to bring our stories to life through engaging and high-quality audio content. The original guides were intuitive, immersive and extremely well received by our visitors.

In our most recent collaboration, Imagineer supported us in expanding the project to include Audio Description and Irish Sign Language (ISL), ensuring that our interpretation is accessible to a wider and more diverse audience. Throughout this process, their team was thoughtful, solutions-focused and deeply committed to inclusivity. They guided us carefully through each stage, offering clear advice, flexibility and technical assurance.

Their professionalism, responsiveness and collaborative approach made the entire process seamless. We are proud of what has been achieved together and look forward to continuing our work with Imagineer in the future”
